This year, 2012, Keeills Week starts on 19th May and finishes on 26th May. The theme this year is SACRED SPACE. We will travel on foot, by car and by tram to visit ancient Christian sites where we will join our prayers with those of our ancestors. This is an opportunity to explore this beautiful island, to spend time in quiet reflection and learn something of our Celtic heritage. It is also an opportunity to make new friends and to share in simple meals and picnics. As usual there will be an evening lecture, which this year will be on the theme Manx Crosses. We are also planning to do an evening coach trip when we will visit some collections of Manx Crosses and share in supper together. More detailed information will appear on this site nearer the time.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY

HAVE MERCY, Christ, have mercy On all that trust in Thee, For Thou are God in glory To all eternity. I walk secure and blessed In every clime or coast, In the Name of God the Father, And Son, and Holy Ghost. (attributed to St Columba)

WAITING IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

Did you enjoy the times of peaceful prayer during PRAYING THE KEEILLS week ?
If so, you might be interested to know that a meeting for contemplative prayer and discussion takes place monthly.
It's open to anyone who is interested in the practice of waiting silently in the presence of God in prayer.
For further details of this local group,
email BARBARA BREGAZZI on barbara_bregazzi@hotmail.com

JULIAN MEETINGS were set up in England in 1973 to foster the teaching and practice of contemplative prayer in the Christian tradition. Their members are encouraged to practice Christ-centred meditation in their daily lives and to explore ways of doing this appropriate for them. Being prepared to wait on God in silence, sharing in leadership and spending time listening to God are all important features of a Julian group.

Membership is not restricted to any one denomination

The meetings are called after MOTHER JULIAN OF NORWICH, a holy woman who was born in 1342. When seriously ill and close to death, she received 16 visions of God's love which were recorded as "The Revelations of Divine Love"
She insists that we should see God as loving above all else and that we are His delight.

ACCESS TO KEEILL SITES

We hope that the two PRAYING THE KEEILLS WEEKS in May 2006 and 2007 have inspired you to continue exploring these beautiful, spiritual sites. You might do this alone or with a group of friends, or as a larger parish outing.
When making your plans, can we ask you please to be careful about access to the keeill sites ?
Some require permission, as they are on private land, or involve crossing private land to reach the keeill.
If you're in any doubt about your plans, use the CONTACTS section to email us and we'll help wherever possible.

Dogs are great companions when walking - but keeills are sometimes found on farm land heavily populated with sheep and lambs so PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IF YOU'RE BRINGING A DOG WITH YOU, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO KEEP THEM ON A LEAD AT ALL TIMES - THANK YOU
